Teaching Higher Physics including the new syllabus and CfE

This course is aimed at new teachers and teachers who want to update or refresh their knowledge and skills. We look, in depth, at the SQA Arrangements Document, External and Internal Assessment Reports and the changes necessary to meet the requirements of a Curriculum for Excellence. CFE brings not only changes in content, but also changes in teaching methodology.

Items covered will include

  • coming to a common understanding of the Arrangements Document.
  • evidence requirements/record keeping/fulfilling performance criteria
  • quality assurance requirements including internal verification resources
  • available/teaching approaches/ building on best practice
  • identifying weaknesses and providing appropriate support
  • management issues/timelines/ deadlines/outcome 3 reports
  • enhancing the delivery of lessons using ICT
  • encouraging the independent learner
  • building CFE and AIFL requirements into normal classroom activities
  • practical sessions on making judgements and maintaining standards.
